Amadeus’ Maroto on hospitality, aviation pressure, leadership challenges

[ad_1]

A vast ecosystem of established travel companies and emerging startups takes care of the plumbing behind online and offline transactions across the global travel industry.

Consumers don’t see them, but they are there, managing functions including distribution, reservations, channel management, marketing and more for airlines, hotels, vacation rentals, transport companies, etc.

Amadeus is just one such company in the space, and it’s president and CEO Luis Maroto has been steering the company for more than 12 years.

In a rare stage appearance, Maroto joined Phocuswright Europe 2023 in Barcelona last week to talk about the global economy, distribution developments and potential growth opportunities for the company.

He touched on growth and challenges in European aviation and moving the needle on IATA’s New Distribution Capability tech standard.

Maroto also discussed the importance of growing other segments within Amadeus, as well as his wider responsibility as the leader of a significant player in travel and the pressures that can bring.
